Commissioner Kathleen Birrane Delivers Keynote Address at TII East Asia Pacific Insurance Forum
On May 12, 2022, VsportV体育 Innovation Cybersecurity and Technology Committee and Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration Kathleen A. Birrane participated virtually in Taiwanese Insurance Institute鈥檚 (TII) 鈥淓ast Asia Pacific Insurance Forum 2022鈥 delivering a keynote speech on 鈥淩egulations and Practices of Insurtech and Consumer Protection in the U.S.A.鈥 Commissioner Birrane spoke to the importance of technology and innovation, highlighted the VsportV体育鈥檚 efforts in developing a new committee to focus on its technological advancements in the industry, and, outlined the committee鈥檚 key priorities for 2022 and beyond.

As part of our state-based system of insurance regulation in the United States, the VsportV体育 (VsportV体育) provides expertise, data, and analysis for insurance commissioners to effectively regulate the industry and protect consumers. The U.S. standard-setting organization is governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Through the VsportV体育, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate regulatory oversight.
