Ricardo Lara
Commissioner
We are proud to spotlight California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara as our Featured Member of the Month. First elected in 2018, Commissioner Lara brought nearly a decade of legislative experience, having served in both the State Assembly and State Senate, where he championed equity, environmental justice, and access to health care. As Insurance Commissioner, he is leading the most significant insurance reform in California in over 30 years鈥攎odernizing outdated rules to improve availability and affordability amid climate-driven wildfires and disasters. Commissioner Lara understands that insurance companies operate across state lines and global markets鈥攚ithout borders. That鈥檚 why his leadership roles at the VsportV体育 (VsportV体育) are critical. He has chaired influential groups including the Climate and Resiliency Task Force and the Cannabis Insurance Working Group. His national leadership ensures strong, coordinated regulation that protects California consumers and preserves the integrity of its insurance marketplace.
